A new direction on the blog—that’s actually not so new.
If you've been following Pokidots for a while, you probably know that I tend to get curious about things. Sometimes that curiosity turns into a product (my favorite thing), sometimes it turns into a project, and sometimes it’s a collection of illustrations. But when it comes to the brain, human behavior, and psychology, it’s not just curiosity. These topics have always been a passion of mine. Since high school, I’ve never stopped reading, researching, and craving more, from workshops and conferences, to actual classes.
A lot has changed recently. For one thing, we're in Europe now! And while I'm still settling into this new chapter of life with my family, Pokidots will eventually take a new direction too.
Pokidots has always been a place for creativity, ideas, making things, and striving to add a little more joy and connection to life. That isn't going anywhere. I'm still creating products (exciting things coming!) and I'm still making art. But I'm also following my other area of passion that has been growing more recently, and has been harder and harder to ignore: that’s the area of psychology, behavior, well-being, and neuroscience. What makes us do the things we do? How can we become aware of our patterns and stop repeating them? What are tools that can make things easier while we figure out the deeper work?
This seems like a whole new direction, but nothing can be farther from the truth! After all, almost all the products I’ve created at Pokidots come from what I’ve learned in psychology and well-being: the Daily Connection Journal, the ALIGNED guide and workbook, even the Christmas village Advent calendar (positive traditions) and the Happy pills collection! These products seem fun and simple, but there is nothing simple about how they were created—very mindfully, and rooted in neuroscience and human behavior—and nothing simple about the positive transformations they produce.
I'm currently in the process of completing my second certification in psychology and neuroscience, alongside a lot of additional reading and research that has taken me down some very interesting rabbit holes… Which I’d love to start sharing here.
My goal isn't to turn Pokidots into a psychology or coaching brand; this is more to show you some of the studies and fascinating facts from which my product ideas and my own practices are inspired.
I still have a lot to learn—I think it’s an ongoing thing, as long as more is being uncovered and understood about the brain and our behaviors—but I have so much that is worth sharing.
So, consider yourself updated: the brain is coming to the Pokidots blog while I figure out the rest!
Stay tuned. Ta ta!
