I haven't stepped out of my comfort zone in a while, but yesterday I went way farther from my comfort zone than I had in a very, very long time.
I recorded a video to introduce myself to my website subscribers, and give them some news about the September sale. I have been thinking of doing this to connect more with my audience, to let them see who the artist they are supporting really is. No matter how many pictures and selfies I post, I think the video connection is just a level up, and it makes the relationship a little closer.
I love watching videos that my favorite artists and favorite brands post; it makes me feel more connected to them, and it makes them more personable, less digital.
Behind the scenes
I was alone at home, and I felt like I was talking in front of a room full of people. I felt awkward and a little shy, but I was determined not to spend more than 30 minutes recording, and that's what I did. I took the "just do it" spirit.
I ended up recording several short videos, and last night, I picked the most decent takes, put them together with little extras, and saved my final video that's a bit shorter than 2 minutes.
I just finished writing the newsletter to my subscribers, and my heart skipped a beat when I clicked SEND. It's out! But that's not it. I decided to share the video here and on my Social Media pages, just to get more used to the idea.
Millions of people share videos of themselves every day, to show, teach, or talk about every imaginable topic. Some people seem like they were born to do that, and others need a little push. I took the challenge today, and I feel so good about it!
What have you done recently that's out of your comfort zone? ☮
