As I was reorganizing my bookshelves today, I found some of my older drawings (from about 10 years ago). I picked a couple to scan and share...
I have a few of those. I enjoyed doodling them so much, especially in class. This was 1998! I feel so old.
Speaking of class... There is another one of these doodles, on a class notebook.
I used to buy those beautiful, expensive Clairefontaine notebooks in every color. 1999.
Talking about having so much time on my hands, and nothing on my mind...
Except for song lyrics! These are all song lyrics. I love it because I know which songs were on my playlist (I should say cassette tape), in October 1998. I see some Alanis Morissette, Brian Adams, Dalida, Notre Dame de Paris, the Beatles, Jewel, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Joe Dassin... Not too bad for a 16-year old actually. I still enjoy most of these songs now. Good job, teenager me!
These were assignments from my Fashion Design days at LaSalle College in Montreal. That was 2002. I was one of the best fashion illustrators in my class. I was able to mimic any teacher's style, and that would make them instantly like my drawings and give me good grades. My favorite was Ana Balint. She was so good and used to illustrate for Elle Quebec sometimes. I think her style impacted mine the most. I eventually developed my own style over the years, and I still constantly experiment and try to improve. ☮
