From newborn hat to couture dress.
The latest keepsake has been received, so now I can share pictures!
Here is Selene's keepsake made with her newborn hat. If you gave birth at Swedish in Seattle, you will recognize this baby hat. Isn't it the sweetest thing?
Selene's mom sent me a recent picture of her (she's about 4 years old now), and ordered her keepsake with a custom illustration. Selene's gorgeous hair is long and golden and curly, and her mom wanted to capture this in the keepsake as well. I had a great time drawing the hair and the face how I imagined Selene would look like when she's older.
This keepsake is a Christmas gift from Selene's mom to her grandma and her grandpa. I think it is an excellent idea, and such a thoughtful, intimate gift. They loved it!
I love receiving the photos of the babies wearing the item of clothing I used! It makes the piece so sentimental. Look at newborn Selene, still in the hospital crib... Now her tiny hat will be preserved in this piece of art.
Here is what Selene's mom had to say:
"We received our keepsake today and it is better than I could have imagined! Everything was beautifully done. I can't wait to give it to the grandparents. They will be so touched to have something that contains the very first item that our daughter wore.
Thanks so much for giving me a unique way to remember the birth of my little girl."

Not surprisingly, Selene's mom is ordering another keepsake for herself :) More about this once I receive the fabric. I can't wait!
